The 32 nd Pearl Harbor Remembrance began with a parade down Water Street in Peru with participants from
local Boy Scouts, members of local VFW, American Legion and the Peru Veterans Memorial Group along with
various other groups. The parade was led by the Peru City Band. Guest speakers included area State
Representative Frank Mautino. Following the ceremony, lunch was donated and served by members of the South
Shore Boat Club. The highlight of the ceremony was the fly-over by pilot Brad Deckert in his 1945 World War II
TBM Avenger hangared at Illinois Valley Regional Airport. This ceremony is one of two held nationwide. The
second ceremony is held in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
